Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili from All Recipes
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 pound ground turkey
2 (10.75 ounce) cans low sodium tomato soup
2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans, drained
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained
1/2 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon ground cumin
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 pinch ground allspice
salt to taste

Directions:  Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place turkey in the skillet, and cook until evenly brown; drain.  Coat the inside of a slow cooker with cooking spray, and mix in turkey, tomato soup, kidney beans, black beans and onion. Season with chili powder, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, cumin, black pepper, allspice and salt.  Cover, and cook 8 hours on Low or 4 hours on High.

Modifications:
-I added 2 cloves of garlic
-I added 1 green pepper

Here's what I started with:

Here's how I did it:

#1 I put the ground turkey in a pan in brown and I diced 1 green pepper.

#2 I chopped up 1/2 of a large onion.  Then, threw the peppers and onions in the crockpot with some olive oil.

#3 Since I've got to have my garlic, I coarsely chopped 2 cloves of garlic and threw it in the crockpot, too.

#4 I added 2 cans of tomato soup.

#5 Then, I drained and rinsed 2 cans of kidney beans and 1 can of black beans.

#6 Next came the herbs-chili powder, red pepper flakes, cumin and allspice.

#7 The browned, ground turkey went in the crockpot and got a good stir.

The Finished Product:

Review:

This turkey chili was really good but different for me.  I have never made chili with tomato soup.  I didn't think that it changed the flavor or the texture, though, and couldn't tell that tomato soup was used.

Normally, my stovetop chili consists of a beer, beef broth and then the rest of the stuff.  Since the only "liquid" in this chili was the tomato soup, it was a little bit thicker than I normally like, almost stew-like.  Having said that, I really enjoyed it and I'm sure that a beer, broth or water could be added without changing the flavor.

Hope you enjoy!
